These Unusual Antistress Products May Help Enhance Your Calm

Stress seems to be part of our daily lives now. There is much to be stressed and anxious about, to be sure, but so much of it is filtered through lenses on social media. Many people are looking for ways to destress and enhance their calm. Products have come on the market recently that state they can help a person calm down who feels stressed and support a peaceful feeling. Learn about some of these antistress products to see if any of them may be able to help you find greater peace.

Volar Calming Salts

Smelling salts may conjure up images of ancient ways of using salts to bring people back to consciousness who had passed out. It is actually an aromatherapy technique that is an antidote to stress. They’re meant to be sniffed and wafted, and include a blend of lavender, peppermint, and patchouli to give a boost of clarity within the calm.

Nue Co. Magnesium Ease

This antistress balm can be used to provide relief for many different things. Magnesium chloride, lavender, and arnica oil combine to soothe and release muscle tension, if even just temporarily.

Ulili for Kahina Candle

The scent of candles can really make stress subside. This candle is made of beeswax and vegetable wax harvested in Morocco. It has a blend of cedar, clove, ylang ylang and orange blossom essential oils. It can be great for use in meditation, calming down after a long day or keeping spirits bright on a gloomy day.

Yourself

One of the greatest sources of antistress is yourself. You have the power to destress your mind, body, and soul with the decisions you make, thoughts you allow into your head, and also the social media or people you let into your world that may increase or reduce stress levels.

Finding ways to destress comes in many different packages. Products can be helpful but it is always good to check with a treating physician about anything you start as it may interfere with other medication or things you are taking currently. Even if products are not the best route, there is always meditation, mindfulness techniques, and other ways to destress that don’t include aromatherapy or other types of things which may not be helpful if they interfere with your current medication. Try not to get discouraged as it takes time to find a routine for de stressing that will work best for you and your personal circumstances.

What Are the Effects of Meperidine Withdrawal?

Withdrawal is a set of predictable symptoms that occur after abrupt discontinuation of Meperidine. If you stop a dose after repeated long use, there will be withdrawal symptoms of varying severity. Symptoms may be physical or psychological. Withdrawal is a sign of physical dependence. To combat this, learn more about Meperidine withdrawal and what can help mitigate symptoms.

Why Withdrawal Happens

Meperidine withdrawal happens when the brain adjusts to the depressant effects by increasing stimulant effects. This is to ensure the heart continues beating and you continue to breathe. As time passes, those who become dependent find Meperidine makes them feel ‘normal.’ When it is taken away, it takes time for the body to balance out. As the drug leaves the system, it will start producing underlying stimulant functions that have kept it in balance. These sensations may be physical or psychological. While they are not usually life-threatening, most experts recommend a person seek medical supervision during withdrawal to help pave the way for successful detox and minimize discomfort.

Main Withdrawal Symptoms

The main symptoms of withdrawal can include many things. Some or all may occur, not all at once, but over the course of days following cessation of the drug entering the system:

  • Chills
  • Cold sweats
  • Goosebumps
  • Constipation
  • Diarrhea
  • Dizziness
  • Dry mouth
  • Nausea
  • Stomach pain
  • Vomiting
Psychological symptoms may also occur, including:
  • Anxiety
  • Delusions
  • Depression
  • Disorientation
  • Drug cravings
  • Mood swings
  • Psychosis

Withdrawal Timeline

The typical timeline for withdrawal includes several days of experiencing detox with the following in mind:

  • 24 hours into detox, the symptoms typically kick in after last dose. Then starts anxiety and irritability, shaking, and other effects which lessen with time
  • Days 2 through 5 start to show peak symptoms characterized by headaches, nausea, vomiting, and sweating. The body is working to release toxins from the body which may also cause mood swings and depression. This paranoid thinking and mental fog may become overwhelming and lead to relapse or other issues, so it is essential to be with medical professionals who can support withdrawal.
  • Days 6 through 14 offer more relief as acute detox subsides and the worst is behind. Symptoms will vary in length and intensity during this time and slowly fade.
  • Day 15 and beyond marks the start of symptoms subsiding. Post-acute withdrawal symptoms such as sleep problems or mood disorders may persist in the weeks and months ahead. It is helpful to check in with a doctor to see how to support this transition.

Medications may be prescribed to help mitigate symptoms including tapering off Meperidine. Antidepressants, Benzos, Buprenorphine, Naltrexone and other medications may be prescribed. The biggest barrier to seeking help is fear of withdrawal. Don’t let it stop you if you are struggling with addiction. Symptoms can be supported with the help of medical professionals in a safe environment and, within a few days to a week you will be feeling much better, and stronger, each day as you step forward into recovery.

Recovery is not supposed to be easy. You did not become addicted in a day, you will not enter recovery with just one day. It takes small steps, each day, to move forward. That is why we are here to partner with you on the journey. Let our experts and professionals help you detox and recover from addiction and support your recovery. Why Addiction Has Taken Over Wall Street (and Where to Find Help)

It seems that Wall Street gets a bad rap when it comes to addiction and substance abuse. There have been many people saying it is long overdue to evaluate the challenges of people on Wall Street or who are in the financial sector in light of addiction. Investment banking and finance are high risk, high reward professions which can push people over the edge. Find out why addiction is so high in this profession and how to support them finding help.

Grueling Schedules

The stress of grueling workdays and juggling other people’s billions of dollars turned people inward in a way nobody expected. Compulsive drinking, drugging, and eventually mental health challenges crept up on many people in the banking and finance industry. What people wanted was to feel alive and energetic, but fell into the shadows of their profession, hidden behind cubicles, numbers, and stats. Substance abuse starts to become a coping mechanism. Organizations themselves can heavily influence worker’s psychological processes and performance. As people become overtaxed, they start to struggle with control over their lives and bodies. They feel out of control and start using drugs and alcohol to cope.

Performance Deliverables

Even as finance and banking professionals seek to perform at higher levels, they begin to realize the bar keeps getting moved on them little by little. Their performance deliverables shift and change until they can no longer meet the needs of their boss or client. They seek to numb out using:

  • Alcohol
  • Drugs
  • Pornography
  • Stealing or gambling
  • Taking higher risks with client money

Taking pills to stay away night after night, working and pushing themselves finally take its toll.

Substance abuse is a way to push the body to the brink until they finally collapse.

Seeking Help

Interventions can be successful for people who struggle with addiction in the banking and finance industry. Unlike other high-profile people, nobody wants an investment banker who is not going to be level headed and capable of handling their money. The industry is also full of stress and is a culture of high turnover when performance numbers are down. To stay on top of the game requires feeling better and able to handle the day-to-day transactions and stress.  Seeking help by going to detox can help heal a person’s addictive behaviors, address mental health issues, and support long-term recovery. The main goal is to help a person return to their profession when they finish working on recovery and start their life in sobriety.

Serenity is the right, safe place to pursue detox and recovery. We provide a nonjudgmental environment for people in finance, banking, and other professions to seek help for addiction. We care about helping you detox here and now, getting healthy, and then supporting you in finding where you want to work and how you want to move forward with your life. How Does Heroin Detox Work?

Heroin is a synthesized derivative of the opiate poppy. This highly addictive, recreational drug induces a euphoric state. Death is a real danger from overdose, impure heroin, or other substances added to it to adulterate the drug. Exposure to HIV and hepatitis B and C are also very real risks. It is one of the most addictive illegal drugs. Heroin detox is difficult but can be achieved with the right support from a medically supervised team of professionals ready to support the journey to recovery.

Heroin Withdrawal Symptoms

Heroin withdrawal can be painful, especially after long-term, heavy use. Symptoms typically begin within a day of discontinuing use and include profuse sweating, malaise, mood disturbances including irritability, chills, muscle aches, insomnia, and vomiting, among other symptoms. This is heightened when heroin use is discontinued without help of medical detox.

Rapid Anesthesia Heroin Detox

Rapid anesthesia heroin detox is a medical procedure to cleanse the brain receptors of opiates that have attached through heroin use. It helps ease a person’s rebound anxiety that comes with heroin detox. Instead of a withdrawal period lasting weeks, rapid detox eliminates most withdrawal symptoms. Afterwards, recovery occurs under direct medical supervision. Any mild withdrawal symptoms are addressed with medication prescribed for comfort of the person with addiction.

Especially in the implant form, improves the success rate of detoxification especially when combined with longer-term therapy backed by recent studies.

The patient’s vital signs and overall physical and mental reactions to these medications are closely monitored during the detox procedure. In the days that follow the procedure, the patient often sleeps more than usual. Administered by professionals as part of a longer-term drug addiction recovery strategy, The RDD Method® is significantly more effective than other courses of heroin treatment.

Replacement Opiate Therapy

There are other ways to go through detox from heroin. Schedule III controlled opiates are routinely used and approved by the FDA for opiate addiction maintenance like Methadone. Many people find themselves in the same situation as before treatment if the misuse of these drugs occurs. Replacement therapy can cause withdrawal upon discharge from the program. Using opiates can cause crossover addiction without the proper supervision by professionals who understand medical detox. It is important to find a place that supports detox from heroin in a medically supervised environment.

If you are looking for a qualified, professional program that supports your detox and recovery in a medically supervised environment, look no further than Serenity Detox. We are here to support your recovery from addiction in a way that best supports your individual recovery. Call us 24/7 at our toll-free number: 866-294-9401

Let Go of That Indecisiveness and Get Confident with These Tips

There may actually be a biological explanation behind indecisiveness. Two regions of the brain deal with making decisions, but that does not mean you don’t have to let go of the inability to make decisions. There are ways to do that, but it takes confidence and knowledge of how to change the habit.

Choice Overload

Choice overload is a thing that happens when people are presented with too many options. The effect has to do with looking at options in life that have more serious consequences. When it comes to choosing insurance options, it is important to come up with ways to choose from what is out there rather than get overloaded with so many options. Options offer power if they lead to people making decisions.

Brain Power

The brain actually lights up when a decision is being made. The anterior cingulate cortex (ACC), where the brain weighs cost and benefits of decisions, and the striatum, the part of the brain responsible for determining value, both light up during decision-making processes. These decision-making regions get more active with choices because of the excitement of being able to choose one option over another.

Choose One Option

The challenge with making decisions has to do with too many options on the table all at the same time. If you want to avoid indecisiveness when faced with a decision, try to limit yourself to a reasonable number of options before you start doing the work that involves your brain. There are many ways to trick your brain into making a decision. You might want to consider some of the following to help the brain focus on making a quality decision:

  • Consider a short meditation
  • Take a walk
  • Take a quick power nap

The less the brain has to feel stressed in the process of making a decision, the better off the brain usually becomes.  It is hard enough to make decisions, but it helps to take the onus off the brain itself and focus on letting the brain rest for a time before jumping into making a decision.

What Are the Basics of Behavioral Addiction?

Almost everyone thinks they understand addiction when it comes to substances like alcohol, nicotine, or drugs. Fewer people are aware that healthy, life-affirming behaviors can also become compulsions. Things like eating, having sex, and other types of behavioral addictions are part of being human but they can also kick up pleasure-related neurotransmitters that create pathways for addiction to take hold. Learn more about behavioral addiction and how to get support.

Pleasure Principle

Pleasurable behaviors cause the release of pleasure-related neurotransmitters like dopamine, oxytocin, serotonin and others, into the brain area known as the pleasure center. The pleasure center then communicates with other parts of the brain including mood, memory, and decision-making.  The brain’s pleasure center can be come hijacked when substances are ingested. Addictive substances flood the brain with two to ten times more dopamine than normal pleasure-inducting behaviors (including eating a healthy meal, spending time with a loved one, helping a friend, etc.). Many people can drink but not become alcoholics, eat as much as they like without worrying about addiction and become sexually active without addiction taking hold but it happens to people and can have devastating consequences for their lives.

Why Addiction Happens

Addiction arises when people begin to use these behaviors compulsively and in excess as a way of coping with life’s stressors and the pain of underlying psychological conditions like depression, anxiety, unresolved trauma, etc. people learn to abuse the behaviors to escape life rather than enjoy it, which can lead to addiction. The unconscious goal of people with addiction is to gain a sense of control over what feels challenging emotionally. This becomes the default response to anything in life. When repetitive patterns of pleasurable behavior is engaged in for this purpose (self-soothing), it takes over a person’s life and they develop a process addiction.

Overcoming Addiction

Many in our culture still view behavioral addiction as moral failings rather than chronic, progressive, and treatable. People with food addiction are labeled ‘fat and lazy,’ sex addicts as people with perversions, and others with addiction as lazy bums who cannot control their urges. Primarily, this occurs because our culture has limited understanding of behavioral addictions and view them as less serious than real addictions. Behavioral addictions are very real and very devastating. The good news is there are many rehab, treatment, and detox facilities that can accommodate people’s ability to recover from drugs and alcohol if they are ready to get well.

If you are finally ready to admit the need for help and want to detox and recover, we are here to help. Give us a call to find out more about resources and programs that we can offer to help you navigate recovery. Call us 24/7 at our toll-free number: 866-294-9401

Get Eustress in Recovery for Greater Inner Peace

If you have not heard of this word before, this provides a whole new perspective on the idea of stress. Stress can come in any form. It is like a feeling that the walls are closing in or that you are treading water. Eu is Greek that means ‘good’ or ‘well.’ Euphoria and euphemism use the same first part of the word. Eustress is a positive type of stress that may actually be helpful for your recovery.

Embrace the Stress

Eustress is actually good for people. It brings heightened awareness that primes a person to be alert and perform at their very best. When a person experiences the feeling of stress before doing something big, the question remains: how do you shift into eustress in that moment. Turning challenges into positive action is difficult but not impossible. It can help to:

  • Get your brain on board
  • Get your body on board
  • Focus on what is positive rather than what is negative to help bring positive feelings into the experience

Make the Shift

Feeling anxiety related to events in life is part of being human. Instead of letting this anxiety run your life and get the better of you, you can learn to flip it over to eustress. If you are thinking of ways to make the shift, it can help to follow the following tips:

  • Identify the emotion. Name it. Maybe there are a few emotions. Work to identify them.
  • Identify the cause of the feeling and what is making you feel this way.
  • Try some statements: “If I didn’t feel…, another way I could feel is…” For instance, you might say ‘if i did not feel worried about money, another way i could feel is more peace at work knowing i have a job.’
  • Think of how you would respond if you were your own best friend. Perhaps you are feeling apprehensive or worried. Take the perspective that what is happening is happening to a friend, not to you. If you were going to help the friend, what would you say. It might be very different from what you actually are saying to yourself in your own head.
